Special Services & Events

Voluntary Action Center is committed to the communities it serves in DeKalb County. Every year, Voluntary Action Center hosts an event that recognizes those in the community who have generously donated their time and resources to support our services. This Volunteer Appreciation Event is held in the spring. In the fall, Voluntary Action Center has a county wide luncheon for senior citizens throughout DeKalb County. The senior congregate sites are closed for the day, and everyone "congregates" to one site for a meal, socialization and entertainment.

Voluntary Action Center holds several fundraising events throughout the year. There is a membership drive done in November. The monetary donations from this drive support Meals on Wheels and Transportation programs.

For several years, the Voluntary Action Center's Golf Outing has been a success. After the golfers enjoy a round of golf, there is an appetizer buffet with raffles and a silent auction to help raise additional revenues for our programs.

In recent years, Voluntary Action Center has added another event called Meals for Moms. This event is held in early May, and gives the community an opportunity to enjoy a lunch with their mom, or maybe dad, siblings, friends or even the boss! There is also a raffle and silent auction held during this event.

All of our special events are sponsored and supported by many individuals and business in DeKalb County. This generous support is very important to Voluntary Action Center and the programs we provide.
